Thortok2000. If you have a multicore processor, try disabling them as this might be the problem for the crashes.
ATI HD 5850 drivers are up to date. Playing through all the AC titles for the very first time. So try to disable VSync and multi-sampling to fix these problems.
I'm having the same issue. I found that installing it in the same partition as Windows fixed it for me.
