And I think what Roses has done on it is brilliant; a really good, clever, simple song. Besides parental tasks, Toddla has worked with the likes of Skepta, Roots Manuva, Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders and Major Lazer. Bradley Watson. And the BPM project is an example of what can happen. It’s mental, but an absolute pleasure. I just love the fact we’re two Sheffield lads in London legging it around, like this little weird Sheffield contingency in the middle of this big city. So the fact that I knew her was just a bonus. So that’s why it happened really. I think in the last year, he’s really refined his sound, he’s really exciting and special now. here On our trip to Miami, we hooked up with super-producer and DJ Tom Bell better known to the music world as Toddla T. We chatted about his new track with Shola Ama and J2K and all the Miami madness. Andrea Martin is available worldwide here. People come to the studio with me, and ultimately that’s going to be the ethos of the session anyway, because that’s what I do. In the build up to his gig on Thursday November 10th @ Joshua Brooks, we chat to him about his favourite tune of the year, the exciting British dance music scene, his personal dream of a healthy 2012 and his strong affiliation to ‘Manny’… There’s definitely a soft spot for me up north.

It’s a very changing area, but I love it round here – I always have. Obviously Leeds and Manchester, they were the places I used to go, to buy records, watch DJs. Producer-wise, there's a guy from Manchester called Chimpo, he’s been doing his thing for a while. It felt like a random tune lobbed on the end. So even though I’m busier than ever because of my family, I’m more productive than ever. For Toddla T, the days of working in a shoe shop in Sheffield are long gone. And I’ve got until 5pm, 6pm and then I’ve got to go home. The key difference though is each beat is released to follow a tweet or like on Twitter or Facebook; meaning the appearance of the song is a race against time. And obviously Roses Gabor – she’s got a bag more material, definitely keep your eye out for her. So things went all the way to the last minute. And then knowing who else was going to be doing the project this year as well, like Rudimental, instantly I knew it was something that I would be interested in getting involved in and I knew that there was a degree of credibility to the project which is important.
