Turn onto Gungas Street and continue for 1.5km, then turn right onto Tuntable Falls Road - signposted ‘Mount Nardi’. There is a fair bit of fire damage, but most of the rainforest is intact and in great condition. A few look out points but nothing breathtaking. Nice refreshing walk, mainly sub tropical forest with limited views. Additionally, Aussie Bushwalking doesn't always have accurate positions for where to park for a walk. At the end of the hidden valley section the forest trail runs out and the track down to hidden valley is marked with pink flagging tape. We went down Pholis and that is a lovely track, but overgrown. The waterfall descends more than 100 metres over the huge rhyolite cliffs which were once part of the Tweed Volcano.Walk down to the base of the falls; a very pretty interesting walk. very loose rock, soil and dead branches and burnt trees everywhere. Only came across one good water source (mostly on ridge lines and slopes) so carry enough water. I also didn't make it all the way to the falls as I was time limited. The Mount Mathewson loop is short and easy to walk and one of the best trails I’ve walked recently! We hiked further than the map to the two giant rock faces which were beautiful but nothing outrageously special. Please read the walk description for special directions and take extra care. on the map the trail is closer to the edge of the gorge (I followed the eastern fire break instead). Going west to east seemed to be the best option, especially if planning to camp and walk back out (I changed my mind as the camp at Rummery Park was looking a bit crowded/raucous, so got a lift back to my car at Mount Nardi). Not difficult as far as rocks and climbing, just a hard, steep, relentless trek coming back. I would recommend doing it via the nightcap track and not from the road entry as it is an old 4wd track/fire trail that is very overgrown. The walk is open but contains some bushfire damage. Most of the track is fine but track down to Pholis Gap has suffered some bushfire damage (eg steps burnt out).

Great walk. The other way, although possible is overgrown and will have you ducking, weaving and climbing to stay on the track - it is doable though! The majority of this walk is of medium difficultly however the scramble at the end lifts the difficulty to hard. A few tree roots and narrow path at times, with plenty of opportunities to cool your feet in the waters as it cascades over the boulders. Your evaluation may differ. I only headed down the first kilometre or so to check it out before heading back and was all still clear (they’ve obviously done a lot of work after the fires to clear the trail), though many of the sleepers that were acting as steps were burnt out or missing so the steps are degrading a bit in the steeper sections.
